FTL Bag

The FTL Pro bag is my new favorite piece of luggage to travel with for any trip, be it a two to three day getaway or a week long trip.

I sometimes travel standby, which is challenging for carrying luggage. Checking luggage ahead of time is out because I might not make it on the plane. I could check the luggage as I board the plane, but I'm not interested in waiting for luggage at baggage claim. I have always hated waiting for luggage.

Last year, I went looking for a bag that could fit underneath an airplane seat. That way I wouldn't have to fit for overhead bin space once I got on the plane.

After buying and returning another piece of luggage, I found the FTL bag on instagram. I can pack a suit in the bag, an extra pair of shoes, clothes for several days, and other items like a toiletry bag and phone charger.

The one drawback to the bag is it does fit underneath an airplane seat, but only sometimes. I have flown United recently. If I'm on a United plane that has in-seat entertainment screens, the bag won't fit underneath because of a plastic container holding the screen's cables. Atleast that's what I think the plastic container is for. It's not on the older planes that don't have screens.

If I'm in an aisle, even on the older planes, it doesn't seem like there is enough space to fit the bag underneath the seat.

However, because the bag doesn't have roller wheels, the gate agents won't make you check the bag, so you can bring it on the plane and see if you can get lucky finding the last bit of overhead bin space, or stuff it underneath the seat as best you can to avoid waiting in baggage claim.

I highly recommend this bag. It's a great everyday bag for guys. If you are looking for a new travel bag, this is definitely one to look into. The bag itself is high quality and the price is much lower than comparable bags at $249.
